Danny Kyle (12 December 1939 – 5 July 1998) was a Scottish Folk singer-songwriter. Danny Kyle was a passionate supporter of traditional music and a constant campaigner for its revival in Scotland.〔http://www.celticconnections.com/Pages/Open-Stage.aspx〕 He was an important figure in the Scottish Folk Revival of the 1960s. ==Biography== He was born in Paisley, Scotland in 1939 and he was brought up in a 2 bed tenement in McKerrell Street, Paisley with his 3 sisters. Later on in his childhood the family moved to Renfrew Road, Paisley where he lived until his death in 1998. At 15 years old he left school and went to work at "Babcocks" in Renfrew as an apprentice engineer.〔http://danny.kyle.muchloved.com/〕 In the early sixties Kyle started his career as folk singer-entertainer on the flourishing folk club circuit of booming folk song revival. He soon became one of its most the influential and popular figures. So popular as he was, Kyle, surprisingly only recorded two LP's "Ah'll Get Ye" in 1975 Pan Audio Label (Foreword by Billy Connolly ). 1998 "Heroes & Soft Targets" Label: Iona Records; "The Danny Kyle Open Stage" has become an integral event as part of the annual Celtic Connections Festival in Glasgow .
